Perpetual Leverage VS. The
'Two-Up' Compensation Plan

The 'two-up' compensation plans (also referred to as an 'Aussie two-up' or 'one-up' compensation plan) work very simply.

When you join the program, the first thing you are told to do is go out and get two 'training sales' (as they are typically called) and pass them up to the person you joined with.

Once that is accomplished you 'break away' from the person you joined with and you are on your own to make profits with the program - without ever having to share another dime with that person.

Sounds good at first - but read on...

Once you've passed up your training sales you are now in a money making position and when you start enrolling people into your organization, those new people are each going to have to do the same thing that you did when you joined, which is to go out and find two people to join and pass them up to you.

So, in theory if you found 3 people to join your business... each one of them would owe you two sales (for a total of 6 sales potentially). If they succeed, you will have 6 new people in your organization and the original three who joined with you would 'break-away' and is now on their own having successfully satisfied the 'two-up' agreement.

In a perfect world... Those 6 people would each go out and get two and that would give you 12, then those 12 would get you 24, 48 and so on.

Multiply that (x) $1,000.00 minimum per person and you would have a pretty nice looking bank account. But read on...

Why The 'One-Up' & 'Two-Up'
Compensation Plans Don't Work

The problem is that the above illustration is a "perfect world" example and it will never happen this way. Remember the 80/20 rule? (80% of your business comes from 20% of your clients) Guess what, it applies here also.

Only about 2 out of every 10 people will ever pass you even one sale to get qualified. But the compensation plan is profitable enough to compensate for the inactivity. So that's not a big problem.        

The bigger problem is that when each one of these people do 'break-away' from you and start marketing on their own… YOU become their competition!

Think about it. You actually help train your personally enrolled members to take sales away from you. Does that make sense?

If you opened a deli on a busy corner, would you help someone to open 5 other delis on the same block? Even if they compensated you for it? How about 10? Or 20 delis all on the same block?

Hmmm... I don't know about you, but that's crazy. Eventually, each deli would try to build larger and larger signs with huge specials on them trying to attract the most customers. The very same people you helped to be in business are now competing against you for sales.

Now we've all heard that competition is good - But it's good for the consumer… not the business owner!

Yes, I'll admit that there is enough to go around - especially considering that there is approximately 30-40 thousand new prospects searching for opportunities on the internet each month.

HOWEVER, when you consider that there are only around 10 positions on google and/or yahoo's first page - there's not a lot of room for competition. Each spot on the search engine is EXTREMELY valuable real estate (if you choose to market your business this way).

For example, Lets say you trained 5 people (who have already broke away from you) to use google search engine marketing. The following week you log onto google only to discover that all 5 people are right along side your name on the search engine list.

Congratulations! You have just DECREASED your odds of capturing a sale by 1/5th. Not a great way to grow your business.

And here's some more bad news...

If you choose to stop working this program YOUR INCOME WILL ALSO STOP WORKING! Why? Because once your members break away from you they will never send you another dime.
